Academic writing Skills session 

The University of Stirling, Ras Al Khaimah Campus organized an insightful academic development session titled “Building Academic Writing Skills” on 24th October 2024 as part of its continued efforts to strengthen students’ academic competencies and scholarly communication skills.

The session was facilitated by Ms. Shanthi Menon and Ms. Jimy, who guided students through the essential principles of effective academic writing in higher education. The workshop focused on enhancing students’ understanding of academic structure, critical thinking, referencing techniques, paraphrasing, academic integrity, and the development of clear and coherent arguments in academic assignments.

Through practical examples, interactive discussions, and writing activities, students gained valuable strategies for improving the quality of their academic reports, essays, and research submissions. The facilitators also highlighted the importance of proper citation practices, evidence-based writing, and professional academic communication aligned with university standards.

The session encouraged active student participation and provided learners with practical tools to strengthen confidence in academic writing and independent learning. Participants appreciated the engaging delivery and hands-on guidance, which will support their academic progression and future research activities.
