The University of Stirling, Ras Al Khaimah Campus successfully conducted an engaging academic session titled “Building Academic Writing Skills” on 17th October 2023 as part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing student academic development and learning support initiatives.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Shanthi Menon and Ms. Jimy, who provided students with practical guidance on strengthening academic writing competencies essential for higher education success. The workshop focused on developing students’ understanding of academic writing structure, critical analysis, paraphrasing, referencing techniques, academic integrity, and effective communication within academic assignments and reports.
Through interactive discussions, examples, and practical exercises, students gained valuable insights into improving clarity, coherence, and professionalism in academic writing. The facilitators also emphasized the importance of research-based writing, proper citation practices, and structured argument development to support academic excellence and independent learning.
The session received active participation from students across programmes and contributed significantly toward improving academic confidence, writing proficiency, and research communication skills. Students appreciated the practical tips and strategies shared during the workshop, which will support them throughout their academic journey.
