Journey of an Entrepreneur

The University of Stirling – Ras Al Khaimah Campus successfully organized a guest lecture on “Journey of an Entrepreneur” on 3rd April 2023. The session was delivered by Ms. Lindsay Galloway Hall, owner of the sustainable clothing brand Fallingleafclothing, UK, who shared valuable entrepreneurial experiences and practical business insights with students.

The guest lecture focused on the entrepreneurial journey from idea generation to business establishment, growth, and sustainability. Students were introduced to the realities of entrepreneurship, including identifying opportunities, overcoming business challenges, building a brand, and sustaining innovation within competitive markets.

Drawing from her experience in developing a sustainability-focused fashion business, Ms. Lindsay Galloway Hall discussed the importance of creativity, resilience, adaptability, leadership, and ethical business practices in entrepreneurial success. The session also highlighted the growing importance of sustainability, environmental responsibility, and socially conscious business models within modern industries.

Students gained valuable exposure to startup development processes, entrepreneurial decision-making, customer engagement, branding strategies, and business growth practices. Real-world examples and practical discussions enabled participants to better understand the opportunities and challenges faced by entrepreneurs while building and managing successful ventures.

The interactive session encouraged active student participation and inspired students to think innovatively, explore entrepreneurial pathways, and develop confidence in pursuing their own business ideas and professional aspirations.

The event served as an important platform for bridging theoretical entrepreneurship concepts with real-world business experiences while strengthening students’ entrepreneurial mindset and industry awareness.

“Academic Writing Skills – Building Academic Writing Skills

The Academic Development Committee (ADC) at the University of Stirling – Ras Al Khaimah Campus successfully organized an academic development session on “Academic Writing Skills – Building Academic Writing Skills” on 17th October 2024 as part of its continuous student academic enhancement initiatives.

The session was designed to strengthen students’ academic writing competencies by providing practical guidance on effective academic communication, structured writing techniques, research-based writing, and critical analysis. Students were introduced to the essential components of academic writing including essay structuring, paragraph development, referencing techniques, citation styles, academic integrity, and scholarly presentation standards.

The workshop also emphasized the importance of clarity, coherence, critical thinking, and evidence-based arguments in academic assignments and research work. Through practical examples and peer learning activities, students gained a better understanding of how to improve their writing quality and develop confidence in academic communication.

Alumni insights and shared experiences provided students with valuable perspectives on overcoming academic writing challenges and adapting to university-level academic expectations. The session encouraged collaborative learning and active participation, enabling students to exchange ideas, ask questions, and engage in meaningful academic discussions.
