The University of Stirling – Ras Al Khaimah Campus successfully conducted an Online Session on “Research Methodologies – Quantitative and Qualitative Techniques” during AY 2023–24 in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology. The session was organized as part of the institution’s academic and research development initiatives aimed at strengthening students’ research competencies and analytical skills.
The session focused on introducing students to the foundations of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and their applications within academic and professional research environments. Students were provided with valuable insights into research design, data collection methods, statistical analysis, qualitative interpretation techniques, and ethical considerations in research practices.
The session explored the importance of selecting appropriate research methods based on research objectives, problem statements, and data requirements. Students gained practical understanding of surveys, interviews, observational techniques, sampling methods, hypothesis development, and analytical frameworks commonly used in academic and industry research.
Experts from the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology shared practical guidance on conducting systematic research, analyzing findings effectively, and presenting academic work in a structured and scientific manner. The session also highlighted the importance of critical thinking, evidence-based analysis, and the use of research tools and technologies in supporting high-quality academic outcomes.
Interactive discussions and examples encouraged active student participation and enabled attendees to strengthen their understanding of research methodologies and academic writing practices relevant to modern higher education and professional environments.
